I forgot to post any film yesterday. So you will get two today, starting with Drive, I reviewed this film last year, but it will get a few words on it’s way too.
Drive was probably one of the biggest surprises of last year’s cinema. Danish director Winding Refn, which I have never been that keen on, finally made his REAL breakthrough film. It is called Drive.
A trailer got released and the american popcorn-flick audience got absorbed by it pretty fast, expecting a new Fast & Furious, but those who knew Winding Refn’s filmography knew what to expect from him. Something slowpacing with lots of gore and not that many emotions, but even those who expected this went wrong. We got one of the most pure and naïve lovestories set in a Taxi Driver-ish context with Synth-laden electro-beats as a mesmerizing sondtrack.
A really timeless piece of art for the masses.
A big 9/10
